This week, we experienced GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, and the children had interesting things to say.
Before we hear from them, the younger class had an exciting time reading, learning the rise and fall of reading as well as taking care of books.
We had a surpise guest in the person of Nechen Robert Robertson. She came to 'make our reading dream a reality'. Just check out the interest she ganered from these yong folks.
Did I say they also learnt to take better care of books and never remove their covers as we here? Yeah...we did. Thank you @purplediva and @Nechen for this week's enlightenment
Ms Ufuoma with our 'snr members' let's call them our bigger younger ones.
Reviewing Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift helped us learn more about fiction, non fiction, biographies and auto-biographies. Are there biographies written for children? Hmmnnn
And so because we found it odd that after all the dangers Gulliver experienced on his voyages, he still kept sailing out for more adventure, we decided that we prefer to stay safe than pursue adventure into danger. Though some of the children said they looked out for adventure.
But aunty, you know as we grow older anything can happen, said Salma.Ufuoma totally agrees with Salma and they all tried to see how ideal the themes in the book are.
That was the experience this week, and so we also had our 'human social responsibility' in the form of the essence of the much celebrated Easter. Bunnies? Eggs? Cross? What really is it?
Been an Easter month, we resolved to speak with the children about the essence of Easter, beyond the well publicised easter egg and easter bunny
Pst Renata of Believer's Love World told the children the essence of Easter and the reason for Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross which was to blot out our sins forever, according to the Christian fate.
And so, Nechen had a word or two for me, for us as a club and the future, very exciting I must say.
These were allo f us...no most of us actually. Lets explore more books in the next two weeks.
Thanks for these pictures @purplediva
