Who is afraid of HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi?

First traditional statement...

With a very tall resume, experience and exposure, the rave of the moment  SLS has climbed through the ranks. The organized banking sector ranks and reached the apex. I will not bore us with his intimidating CV but clearly, everything about SLS is enough to make ANYONE afraid. SLS is one of those people you should not be in opposition with. Love him or hate him, he does not apologise for his 'blue blood'.
With many speculations about his entrance in the banking sector, SLS made a statement when he remained focused and excelled by experience and connections. He wasn't a push over through his educational pursuit either. He got the best of both the banking and the Islamic worlds and left foot prints all over.
His ascension as the number one man at the apex bank placed him on an international pedestal with rocking many boats of the 'award winning' commercial banks. He was not afraid to gore any ox. He did all he did like he had black i mean (blue) blood running through his veins. He survived it. Made it to many news pages, broadcast stations, screens, front magazine pages both locally and internationally.People went to prison on his account, he took his search lights where he shouldn't have, got awards like never before locally and internationally too.
His agenda as CBN governor was followed step by step.  Many reforms countered the past regime but upheld the banking ethics. Many rumours were agog during his 'reign' at the CBN house.
Remember this day? This was when the serving
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),   Sanusi Lamido Aminu  Sanusi appeared in chieftaincy regalia in his office to the chagrin of workers. Mr. Sanusi was here conferred with the title of Dan  Majen of Kano by the Emir of Kano ,Alhaji Ado Bayero. Tongues wagged. Some people thought it was inappropriate. His singular message then was through the CBN spokesperson, Ugo Okoroafor, who said Mr Sanusi said that it was his colleagues in the bank that persuaded him to come to the office in his chieftaincy garb.

SLS also appeared at the hollowed chambers of the National Assembly times without number. Every time he showed up, it was a truth or dare situation. He said all he had to say in his typical character. Those glasses, emphasizing his resolve to say t he truth and nothing but the truth. It happened many times. So many times some people began to fear a repeat of the 'Farouk Lawan saga'. But no. A few figures changed and from $40b, it metamorphosed to $20b. It was a reason to question his motive too, but again, he wouldn't change his mind. The Freedom Of Information Act acknowledges these kind of people as whistle blowers. SECTION 27 sub section (1) states that

Notwithstanding anything contained in the Criminal Code, Penal Code, the Official Secrets Act, or any other enactment, no civil or criminal proceedings shall lie against an officer of any public institution, or against any person
acting on behalf of a public institution, and no proceedings shall lie against such persons thereof, for the disclosure in good faith of any information
, or any part thereof pursuant to this Act, for any consequences that flow from that disclosure, or for the failure to give any notice required under this Act, if care is taken to give the required notice.
 (2)  Nothing contained in the Criminal Code or Official Secrets Act shall prejudicially affect any public officer who, without authorization, discloses to any person, an information which he reasonably believes to show-
(b)  mismanagement, gross waste of funds, fraud, and abuse of authority; or
(c)  a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety notwithstanding that such information was
not disclosed pursuant to the provision of this Act.
(3)  No civil or criminal proceeding shall lie against any person receiving the information or further disclosing it.

it was hinged upon sundry allegations prepared by an obscure Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.
Presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, who announced the suspension, mentioned deep concern “about far-reaching irregularities under Malam Sanusi’s watch”, which allegedly “distracted the Central Bank away from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate”. The unprecedented action triggered farther-reaching consequences.

The naira dipped at an all time low for 15 years while the Nigerian Stock Exchange, in the period after the suspension lost over N130 billion. For an administration that is totally and slavishly committed to foreign investment, foreign investors confidence was given a rude shock, by the act of suspending the CBN Governor!

He was soon suspended and this was hinged upon sundry allegations prepared by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. Many analysts found it obscure and illegal.

There had been series of court summons on the legality and illegality of his removal by the president. He won on some counts and the FG won on others.
There were more cases to be decided when his tenure elapsed. June 3rd 2014 would have been his last day at the CBN.He had said severally that he would not seek to be kept back at the apex bank. As if he knew, as if to say it was divinely orchestrated, the emir of Kano Ado Bayero died on the 6th of June from heart related disease. The emir would have been 84 on July 25th. So yes, you can argue that it was natural causes.
The history behind the ascension to the emir's throne is already in the public domain and i will not bore us with that either but it was obvious that SLS also of royal 'blue' blood himself, was a serious and  senior contender for the revered caliphate seat. A seat the world acknowledges. One of the few traditional seats in the country that has retained its mystery, relevance and functionalists. This seat though religious, is without political leanings. Its a seat that should remain focused on the unity of the nation while upholding the Kano people and Nigeria at large. As the president extolled the emir last year during his birthday.

'Your uncommon leadership qualities and evident faith in the peace, unity, progress, and prosperity of our dear nation, have combined to make you one of the most highly respected monarchs in Nigeria today'.
As you continue to use your exalted throne to build bridges of friendship and harmony across our nation, it is my prayer that Almighty Allah grants you many more years of abounding health, prosperity and enduring fulfillment,” the President wrote.

It took a whole day of speculations, rumours, analysis and counter analysis of the next emir as we awaited the announcement in Kano on Sunday. Two of the sons of the late emir Ado Bayero along side SLS were in top contention. I remember when the emir of Katsina died, there were seven people contending for the seat. There was a victor, as always. Life always presents the victor and the vanquished.
Many prominent Nigerians were said to have relocated to Kano albeit temporarily. Kano state is said to have gone agog since the confirmation and announcement of the 14th emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. His footprints and legacy through his life's journey says a lot about what to expect in his reign. A reign that can not be suspended nor expelled. A reign that cannot be retracted either. So why the fuss in Kano?
WHO IS NOT AFRAID OF SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI?

He died on Friday morning. The Emir would have been 84 on July 25.
Walin Kano, Alhaji Mahe Bashir Wali in a live broadcast on Radio Kano confirmed the death. One of the princes, who does not want his name in print added that the Emir died of heart related ailment Friday morning.
