NEWSLETTER LAUNCH: How People Can Stop Dying In Nigeria

We need a better president so that people will stop dying. This is by 8year old Daniel Nongo of the AC BOOK Club Abuja. This was revealed when the Abuja Children's Bookclub launched the maiden edition of her Newsletter on Friday 4th January 2019 at the delightful Thought Pyramid Art Gallery in Wuse II Abuja.
Newsletter presentation

Apart from the dedicated parents of the Book Club members, we had in attendance the CEO of Moms Africa Mary Ikoku, Country Director of Global Rights Abby Baiyewu Teru, Ann Iyonu of the Institute for War and Peace (IWPR), John Edeh of Omaha Family Foundation, Cynthia Mbamalu of YIAGA and other dignified men and women who came to support the cause of making our future better through our children.

There were readings of scintillating essays  as written by the children and published in the newsletter.

These essays border on what they wish to change in their society and support statements made by men and women presently working for Civil Society organisations moving to make our society better in different ways.

Themes from the essays included environmental pollution, bullying, insecurity of lives, incessant killings, alternative source to energy supply, corruption, bad governance and more. The CSO's in attendance applauded the children and advised them not to give up on their quest for excellence.

The children were told about their rights as children and citizens, they were advised to be obedient to the laws of the land, they were also told of the successes of different interventions and the different steps they too can take to make a change in their little corner.

"Members of this book club are the chosen children of this generation who are learning early in life that as they grow, knowledge is important especially through reading and knowing that solutions do not only come from the government but can also come from individuals like them", said a parent.

The creative Director, Alu Azege appreciated the attendees stressing the immeasurable value being added to a better Nigeria.

She further called on parents to invest valuable time in growing their children knowing the capacity children had exhibited at the book club in the last 18months.

The newsletter has come to stay and it will keep featuring these articles by it's members. It will also feature a serial in form of a developed story from the interactions at the book club titled THE CHRONICLES OF WILLIAM GREEN.
